Overview

FORSIGHT

The Forsyth Park Project was started by the Trustees' Garden Club a few years ago as a multi-year legacy project. The Forsyth Park Project's goal is to complete a master plan for the park and get it designated as a National Historic Landmark. This project team worked with SCAD, an international/local design college. We worked on this project as a group as SCADpro students. As part of Forsyth Park's Master Plan, we developed a design product that helps visitors interact with the park immersively.

How might we encourage the involvement of people from multiple cultures, age groups?

What might be done to make the park inviting for people with varied interests?

PRIMARY RESEARCH DATA POINTS

USER INTERVIEWS

Research

The interviews show the need for a guide in the park, especially  for the tourists. At present, the majority of the people group visiting the park are attracted by the environment, especially the nature. People's suggestions for improvement of the park mainly include activity facilities and information provision.

"I would love it if there were activities that are more open or accessible."

-Anonymous Respondent

"I like the flowers in the park...well, I want to tell you my favorite spices, however, I don't know its name. It will be good if I can know more about the plants in the park."

-Anonymous Respondent

" I got to know about the dog club from a lady who was walking with her dog. She just let us know about the group and then we just went out to see and figured it out."

MEET AISHA

User Journey

Aisha is an international student visiting Savannah for the first time. She is quite excited to visit Savannah and explore everything new.

She was scrolling through Instagram when she stumbled across a post about a farmer's market at Forsyth Park. She got excited and rushed out the door. On her way, she was distracted by the beauty and charm of Savannah's historic mansions. So she began exploring them and capturing them on her phone. Because the article did not specify a time, she assumed the framer's market would go all day.

However, when she arrived at the park, she was surprised to see that the vendors were packing up. She was furious over missing the event and was thinking of ways to avoid missing any future events because social media posts were not delivering accurate information. She then overheard two individuals discussing the new app Forsight, which is a source of not just information about events taking place in Forsyth park but much more.
